Life Changing S’Mores
Disclaimer: This post has nothing to do with veggies. Nothing at all. You will thank me when you are done reading this because it is that awesome. S’mores as you know them will be changed forever (in a good way).
Let’s just start with a gooey marshmallow picture. The char on the outside is perfect. The graham cracker is the perfect size. There’s chocolate goodness happening. Wait. There’s something different. What’s that?? Is there coconut? There’s TWO marshmallows? OMG–is that a ROLO in there??
What have I done!??
I have been on Pinterest again. And, it is good. Real good.
Here’s the deal. Regular s’mores stuff for you traditionalists. And, bonus, for those braver souls who are ready to have their minds absolutely blown: coconut-coated marshmallows and mini Rolos. For the uninitiated, Rolos are chocolate covered caramels. For the initiated, please sing-a-long … you can roll a Rolo to your pal, it’s chocolate covered car-a-mel … the commercial is on YouTube if you can’t remember the rest of the words.
OK. Back at the campsite, here’s how we roll:
You gotta do two marshmallows. It just balances out that Rolo sitting in the middle, if you know what I mean.
Be gentle with the approach on the campfire. Coconut is sensitive. Save the serious charbroiling for the plain marshmallows. (I know you are going to burn a couple of plain ones. No one is counting. Camp food does not have calories or fat or anything.)
Beware of the hypnotizing power of a nice campfire. The glow just sucks you in and … blooop … marshmallow melted, Rolo gone. Do over. Be a responsible s’more owner. Don’t roast and zone out. It’s bad for your s’mores juju.
Focus.
Once that Rolo is gooey and the coconut is browned and the marshmallow is super mellow, smear it all between two graham crackers and NOM. Nom, nom, nom. It’s like german chocolate cake meets Girl Scout samoa cookie and heaven and rainbows and unicorns and everything wonderful that you ever wanted.
